My Meaningful Movies

I have enjoyed movies as long as I can remember. Those films which weave images and words into fabrics of meaningful themes appeal to me. I would like to acknowledge my gratitude to the Bryn Mawr Film Institute for providing me the opportunity to expand my understanding of films. In addition, I would like to thank Marc Lapadula, Senior Lecturer in Screenwriting at Yale University, for his mentoring and friendship.

Gus Cileone
I have taken many film studies courses at the Bryn Mawr Film Institute and elsewhere. My latest novel is a sci-fi version of Gulliver's Travels entitled Galloper's Quests, "The Bigger Picture," is a mystery for movie lovers, like my previous novel, "Out of the Picture. I was recognized by Filmmakers International Screenwriting Awards, and the Annual StoryPros International Screenplay Contest. I won the Dark Oak Mystery Contest sponsored by Oak Tree Press, which published my first novel, "A Lesson in Murder." My novel, "Feast or Famine," is about a traumatized man dealing with his Catholic Italian American past in Philadelphia. I was cited for my writing by Annual Art Affair, Hidden River Arts, the annual Writer’s Digest writing competition, The Philadelphia Writers’ Conference, and the Montgomery County Community College’s Annual Writers’ Club Poetry and Fiction Contest. Don Ron Books has included one of my short stories in their collection entitled "South Philly Fiction." I also have short stories in the collections entitled Death Knell V and the Schuylkill Valley Journal.
